Reduce the maintenance bill using garage door tips.
Reverse mechanism testing
Reversing mechanisms have been added to all garage door openers made after January 1, 1993. It is therefore important that you test this mechanism to make sure that it works properly. First lay a piece of wood in the center of the opening, then push the opener’s transmitter to close the door. Your door should automatically reverse when it hits the wood.
Photo eye testing
Our experts in Maywood state that photo eyes are an integral part of the garage door opener as they are used to add extra safety measures. Test their functionality by waving an object in front of the photo eye just as the door is closing. If the door does not reverse when you do that, try cleaning the photo eye with a soft, dry cloth or adjust the photo eyes back into alignment, and then try again.
Keep electric garage door parts organized
With all of the added convenience (and risks) that come with using an electric garage door, it becomes doubly important that you take note of all of its parts, making sure that everything is organized. That way, you can handle any garage door problem with ease.
Getting at the root cause of noisy garage door openers
Weird or unusual sounds coming from your opener can either be caused by lack of lubrication or by loose nuts and bolts. To correct this just lubricate moving parts that need lubrication and tighten all loose nuts and bolts. If these steps do not eliminate the weird sounds then our experts say it might be time to call in the professionals to have the problem properly diagnosed.
